Join the senior students of the esteemed Triveni School of Dance (Brookline) in their presentation of  Talamallika: a Garland of Rhythms. Witness the 5,000 year old art of storytelling as it was performed by the ancient temple dancers of India. Journey back in time with the Triveni Ensemble as you are treated to an amazingly intricate chorographical display of hand gestures, facial expressions, footwork , and body movements, all topped of with exquisite native costuming. Added to this will be Triveni’s own interpretation of this ancient art in the form of new and innovative choreography, and African drumbeats combined with traditional Indian classical rhythms.

The Triveni School was established in 1971 under the direction of  highly esteemed Indian dancer Neena Gulati.  Formally detailed classical Indian dance instruction is offered in the Odissi, Bharata Natyam and Kuchipud styles. As a steady advocate of social awareness and cultural diversity, Gulati has presented her students at countless multicultural events throughout New England. In addition, the Triveni Ensemble has made numerous benefit appearances and Sunday’s program is no exception. In recognition of all of their accomplishments in this area Triveni was awarded an entry in the 2005 Catalogue for Philanthropy Charity.
