guitar2Join solo guitarist Eric Anthony every Thursday evening 7:00-10:00 for some fine Spanish classical music while you feast upon  gourmet ethnic fare- all this, compliments of  Tasca Tapas Restaurant in Brighton. There’s no cover charge either for this great entertainment and in addition Tasca hosts special flamenco nights which feature premier guest artists from the New England area. Past performers have included, singer Fernando de Malaga, guitarists Juanito Pascal, Kai Nazero, and Roberto Rios, and dancers Maria Galan, Isabella Rios, and Sabrina Aviles

Their inventive menu includes both tapas and main course dinners. I personally tend to favor the complete tapas meal in establishments such as this, but some of their dinner offerings do look enticing indeed. Choose from a generous array of 35 different tapas such as: Tortas del cangrego (pan roasted black bean crab cakes with fresh tomato and cilantro salsa), Setas ronan Portabellas (with shaved manchego, capers, and red onion in a sherry vinaigrette with roasted red pepper toasts), and Canelon de pollo (chicken and spinach baked in a canelon with a duo of fresh tomato and smoked cheese sauces). Main course offerings include the standard Spanish favorite, Paella de mariscos (shrimp, scallops, mussels, and calamari with saffron rice cooked in a lobster broth) and Filete de cerdo al rioja (herb and garlic marinated pork tenderloin served with a mixed bean ragout and spinach over a scallion potato pancake in a Rioja shallot reduction). And as if all this weren’t enough to satisfy even the biggest of appetites, there’s more in the way of desserts such as Crema Catalana (rich chilled orange custard with tapas-103caramelized sugar top) or Crepe Helado (cookie ice cream rolled in a thin crepe and smothered in a chocolate and amaretto sauce with almonds). But please, don’t stop here. If you haven’t already, check out the rest of their fabulous menu. Yes, right now!

Tasca also offers a few special dining events, just to keep things a little more interesting. Every Sunday you can enjoy a Prix-Fixe menu for $21.95 or celebrate New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Easter, or Mother’s Day while indulging in a meal from one of their holiday menus created especially for the occasion. There are wine dinners and Sangria tastings offered throughout the year, as well. Check out their web site for announcements or to get on their mailing list and keep informed of all the latest happenings.

Tasca Tapas Restaurant has received rave reviews from Zagat, the Boston Globe’s Alison Arnett, and Boston Magazine, among others. Get directions to Tosca from any location on their web site, and while you’re at it, you might as well go ahead and conveniently reserve a table on line. It’s that simple. Their located at 1612 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton.
