Tamburitza ensemble (video)
It’s definitely not every day that you can enjoy truly authentic Croatian folk music at its best- at least not in this country anyway! So, come and experience something special a little out of the ordinary at Pajdashi’s cd release party. Pajdashi is a Croatian tamburitza ensemble and this is their very first cd entitled U Kola! This tight knit, fun-loving group of American and native born singers and instrumentalists (featuring the tambura) will liven your spirits with their renditions of traditional songs and dance music of the region. Copies of the cd ($15.00) and T-shirts will be available for purchase at the event.
This event is one in a series of international group folk dance parties held regularly on most Friday evenings, September thru June, by the Folk Arts Center of New England. So, if you come to listen to the music there’s a pretty good chance that you will end up dancing as well. Neither experience nor a partner is required, so there’s no need to be shy if you want to participate. If you are planning to dance however, be sure and read all the details on how the group dance is structured as well as proper dance floor etiquette. Once armed with this info, they promise that any newcomer will easily “fit in” with the rest of the crowd. Sounds like a lot of fun!
